Micah Halter

Research Programmer Emeritus

In the lab since
2016

Micah Halter worked with the group from 2016 to 2019 at the Georgia Tech Research Institute, while completing a BS in Computer Science at Georgia Tech. He was the research programmer on the group’s early compositional modeling libraries.

The first of these was SemanticModels.jl, which studied whether a scientific model’s meaning could be extracted from its code and manipulated directly. That work led to AlgebraicPetri.jl, where he is the largest contributor. AlgebraicPetri is used to assemble an epidemiological model from parts: two reaction networks are composed, a model is stratified by age or region, and the dynamics are generated from the structure. It was used in the DARPA ASKEM program and in the lab’s epidemic modeling papers.

He is also a substantial contributor to Catlab.jl, and did much of the release engineering that keeps the AlgebraicJulia packages installable and tested.

He is now a Research Scientist at the Georgia Tech Research Institute.
