Micah Halter
Micah Halter worked with the group from 2016 to 2019 at the Georgia Tech Research Institute, while completing a BS in Computer Science at Georgia Tech. He was the research programmer who turned early ideas about compositional modelling into libraries other people could use.
That started with SemanticModels.jl, which asked whether a scientific model’s meaning could be extracted from its code and manipulated directly, and led to AlgebraicPetri.jl, where he is the largest contributor. AlgebraicPetri makes an epidemiological model something you assemble from parts: compose two reaction networks, stratify a model by age or region, and the dynamics follow from the structure rather than being rewritten by hand. That work carried into the DARPA ASKEM programme and the lab’s epidemic modelling papers.
He is also a substantial contributor to Catlab.jl, and much of the release engineering that keeps the AlgebraicJulia packages installable and tested is his.
He is now a Research Scientist at the Georgia Tech Research Institute.
